Jon Schorsch
Possessing more than a decade of experience in law enforcement, Jon Schorsch is currently working towards his Master of Public Administration at Seattle University. Jon Schorsch enrolled at the institution in 2008 and anticipates graduating in 2011. In addition to attending classes, Jon Schorsch serves as an officer at large for the MPA Student Association. Jon Schorsch is currently working towards accreditation as a mediator and volunteers in this capacity at the Dispute Resolution Center of Island and Snohomish Counties.
A former Sergeant in the Port of Seattle Police Department, Jon Schorsch retired in 2007 after losing his eyesight in a boating accident. After Jon Schorsch lost his vision, he became involved with several organizations supporting those with visual impairment, including the National Federation of the Blind, where he now instructs self-defense courses. Recently, Jon Schorsch joined the Board of Directors of Community Services for the Blind and Partially Sighted, an organization which helps individuals with vision impairment to gain the skills and abilities they require for safety and independence. An avid golfer, Jon Schorsch is also a member of the United States Blind Golf Association.
In 2004, Jon Schorsch began learning the art of water skiing, traveling to Acapulco, Mexico, to visit Ski Paradise. This led Jon Schorsch to join a water ski club in Washington State to hone his skills. Even after losing his vision, Jon Schorsch has continued to improve his water skiing abilities, making two trips back to Ski Paradise since. Jon Schorsch now endeavors to ski year-round and belongs to the Lake Sammamish Waterski Club, located just outside of Seattle. A graduate of Washington State University, Jon Schorsch holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
